In this piece I slowly added layers over a number of years, the intention being to produce a sort of long exposure collage. As if blending several frames of a timelapse, the traces of the image being worked are flattened on the finished surface. The landscape offers only traces of layers. I was thinking of ‘the Real’ in the philosophical sense of the unobservable reality of existence, unfiltered from an individual mind’s eye.
